Generation Y

by Madame So

/

about

In a time of Trump, Brexit and Covid-19, Generation Y is a dark and intense reflection on how millennials’ youth culture (and those prior to them) have been perceived by older generations and how this cycle of judgementalism is snowballing into the next generations to come.

lyrics

The youngest of youth are moving fast
They’re fast and furious: they call it lust for life
They come back and forth from the ladies and the gents
For what it's worth, they embrace the pretence

Barely eighteen and all they've seen is love for lust, above any trust
They know all the tricks- the old folks are backwards:
After Generation X, comes Generation Y...
They'll ask you who you are and what you do
You better come prepared or they'll step on you
With no inhibitions, their main ambition is to grow old fast, fast, fast, fast
They will, at last…
The youngest of youth have got lust for death, they've got lust for death, they've got lust for death...
We see you
We see you
We see you
We see you
We see you
We see you
You’ve got lust for death.

“Possibly one of the most exciting lyricists working in London at this time and a great performer with a proper Parisian edge and a twisted sense of humour.” (sic Simulated Pragmatism)

In her own words: “If I pushed your buttons, I’ve accomplished my mission.”
